Panel Requirements for EV Chargers
In most cases, an EV charger requires a 240-volt dedicated circuit and a breaker size between 30 and 60 amps, depending on the charger model and charging speed. This typically means your home should have a 100-amp electrical service at minimum, although a 200-amp panel is often recommended to comfortably support EV charging alongside other household loads.
Our electricians will complete a load calculation and advise you on whether a panel upgrade or load management system is needed. If your panel is full, we can install a subpanel or complete a full service upgrade to safely support the added load.

Some current programs include:
Up to $350 for single-family homes installing a Level 2 charger
Up to $2,000 per charger for multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs)
Additional support for required load management devices or electrical upgrades
We’ll walk you through the rebate process and provide all the paperwork needed to apply. For the most up-to-date rebate information, visit goelectricbc.gov.bc.ca.
Can I install an EV charger in a townhouse or condo?
Yes, but you may need strata approval or a load-sharing solution. We can help coordinate with property management and provide documentation for your application.
Where are Level 3 chargers most practical?
Level 3 (DC fast chargers) are intended for public or fleet-use environments, such as rest stops, dealerships, or commercial hubs. They require industrial-grade power and are not suitable for most residential settings.
How long does installation take?
Most installations take 2 to 4 hours. Complex wiring or panel upgrades may add time, but we’ll let you know what to expect before we begin.
